Post Hangar 9 Extra 260 27% Set Up
I am assembling a Hangar 9 Extra 260 27% with a DL 50 engine and would like some pictures of where to mount the batteries, volt regulator, fuel button, ignition switch, gas tank. This is my first larger scale plane so I want to get it right.

I know Jazz has a similar set up at our club. Would you please post a couple pics of your plane for me Jazz??

I have seen various set ups on other sites and every one seems different, some have both batteries way back behind the wing tube others mount on the engine box. I'm sure this affects the CG and flight characteristics but they all say they love how it files? Curious to know what you guys think and any help or suggestions are appreciated.

In looking for spots to mount the fuel button and ignition on the Fuse but the best real estate is under the root of the wings, already cut and drilled the holes then mounted the wings and found this out Embarassed so some patches are required but shouldn't be too noticeable since they'll be mostly covered by the wings. I don't want to make any more mistakes but would like to fly it soon.

Thanks for your help.

Once I figure out how to post pics I'll put some up of the way I am thinking it should be with everything just sitting in place or taped in place.

Try this link to a my space photo album. Not sure it will work. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=111905799&albumId=1975090

It looks like you have a regulator for your ignition. You only need that if you are running lithiums. Your ignition looks fine. Just mount the batts where the plane will balance.

Thanks for looking it over Andy. I added the regulator because Bob from DL USA says the ignition is supposed to be between 4.8 and 6 volts and no more. So the battery is 6V which puts out a little more than 6 with a full charge. I just didn't want to take a chance on frying the ignition module but maybe I just added one more thing that could go wrong?

Great IMAC event!! very well run and many excellent pilots. I hope to compete next year with a little instruction from you maybe??

Thanks again.

Andy is right (for once), you would only need a regulator if the nominal voltage is over 6V, so you shouldn't need one in this case.

Remember; your airframe, engine, muffler, prop, spinner and any other equipment is unique - so, you have to place equipment such as batteries, regs, etc. in a place that balances your particular airplane. It really doesn't matter where other people have equipment placed other than to serve as a guideline.
